Remote Backup Systems Now the Last Company Standing with a 100% Commitment to MSPs

With *****’s June 8 announcement that their “Home” edition is now out of Beta, RBS is the last supplier of Online Backup Software to Managed Services Providers who is not competing unfairly with their own customers.

***** Home is targeted squarely at the same end users that their Service Providers address, with an offering that is not only less expensive than many of them can profitably offer ($5/month for 10GB), but also does local backups for FREE. Further, they are rolling out new features in ***** Home that they have not yet made available to their Service Providers.

If I gave away FREE software that could do FREE backups, better than the software I made available to my MSP customers, my customers would have my head, and I wouldn’t blame them! Maybe *****’s customers are more forgiving. But I doubt it.

***** is only the latest developer of online backup software for MSPs to slap their users in the face by using them as beta testers for their own commercial product. They have used their service providers’ hard-earned experience in the marketplace to compete against them unfairly. The previous two (and there are only four of us) did the same thing three years ago and one year ago.

So, RBS is the last MSP-only developer of online backup software. That’s fitting. We were also the first.

I’m sorry for *****’s MSP customers. I know some of them, and I like them. What has happened is patently unfair, and I hope they can recover.

I can promise you this – RBS will never compete with our own customers. I first made that promise in 1987, and I still mean it.
