EMC to Buy Mozy for $76M

Recent news reports indicate that a deal is in the works for EMC to buy Mozy for $76M. Both parties are tight-lipped about the deal. Mozy was reportedly capitalized with $1.6M, giving Mozy’s owners a massive profit, if the deal goes through.

There have been a number of high-profile (and high-dollar) purchases of RBS Service Providers by much larger companies within the past 18 months. Remote Backup Systems considers this GOOD NEWS for the industry.  It shows that Online Backup is living up to the early hype that it is the next big thing – the way everyone will eventually back up.

We know that we are selling far more large accounts than we used to, and that Service Providers are buying more client licenses for existing packages. That’s very good news for all of us.
