RBS Evaluation Software FAQ

Here are some Frequently Asked Questions about our Evaluation software.

Only one full backup is required. All others can be incremental. RBackup can automatically build a full restore from a series of incremental backups.

Exchange (brick level,) SQL Server, Active Directory, and System State backups are all enabled in the Evaluation Software. Please remember that big files take a long time to back up, and the first backup is always Full.

Big backups take a long time. RBackup is state of the art software compliant with tough security and privacy regulations. It is not as quick as simply copying files. During its backups RBackup has to examine, compress, encrypt, digitally sign, transmit, catalog, and verify each file. For large file sets this process can take a long time, especially the first backup.

The first backup can be done with a portable drive. Because the first backup is usually large, we gave RBackup the ability to write the first backup to a portable hard drive. You can import the backup directly to your RBackup Server, saving hours of online time.

Both Clients and Server will run in Services Mode. However, the Evaluation Version has this feature turned OFF. Your live software will be able to run in Services Mode.

RBackup WILL work with dynamic IP addresses. The Server has a built-in agent that connects it to a Dynamic DNS Service operated by RBS, which (because it requires a serial number) comes as a service with the live software, but not the Evaluation Version, which has no serial number.

Yes, you can activate the Evaluation Version as Live. Set it up like you want to run it. Put live customers in service. Brand it with your own company info. Set your defaults. When your Evaluation period is over and you purchase the software all your settings and accounts will remain intact.
